Weary with "Here Comes the Bride?"
Let Playford's music be your guide!
His lilting tunes will make you smile
And bring you down a fresher aisle

Playford Promenade:  Music for Grand Occasions is available as sheet music in time for the 2008 wedding season. These 17th century Playford tunes have been  selected and arranged because they make wonderful processionals and recessionals. They are a perfect choice for theme weddings, garden weddings, and for the bride and groom wanting something a little different!

Playford Promenade contains 42 tunes arranged by Dorothy van Joolen Barth for recorder and violin. The tunes may also be played on flute and violin or on two violins. Below are excerpts from  over half of this anthology. We would love to perform Playford Promenade for your wedding! However, if you live outside our area of performance, the sheet music for Playford Promenade is available.

Ancient Music for a New Day
by  Dorothea Barth Copyright 2009

Rupert’s march so regal,
Might well appeal to thee,
Or perhaps, in minor strains,
The walk of Willoughby.

Light ye now the candles,
And pause in reverie,
Siren songs echo thy joy,
The madrigals of Morley.

Up the aisle triumphant,
What finer way to go,
Union joyfully proclaimed,
A ronde by Susato

'Fore and aft such splendor
Some gleeful notes shall dance,
Praetorius and Dowland
Bring forth the Renaissance.

Treasure has not vanished,
The music ’s close at hand,
Reappeared to share thy glee,
Spread birdsong through the land.
